On Friday 17th February, pupils from EPA headed to the Copper Box Arena - inside Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Part of the rewards trip programme at EPA that rewards pupils that have a positive attitude towards PE and for their attendance at extracurricular activities and clubs.

Danny Crabb, PE Teacher at East Point Academy said:

“It was a fantastic experience to be able to take our pupils to another amazing sporting event. As a bonus, this was the first time we have been able to include our pupils in the running of the match as well. It was an amazing opportunity for those involved and a wonderful reward for their efforts in school. The match was live on SkySports and as such our pupils were front and centre at the start of the match coverage. Pupils said they felt privileged to be a part of the match and it was a once in a lifetime experience. They conducted themselves impeccably.”

East Point Academy took 47 pupils to watch London Pulse vs Team Bath in the Netball Superleague, with 14 pupils from Year 8 acting as player guards and 6 of our Year 11 pupils being ball assistants throughout the game. This was the first time that our students had the opportunity to be involved in the experience on match day - even featuring live on Sky Sports!

Sky Sports also posted this on their YouTube channel, you can watch our EPA pupils in action as ball assistants and also as player guards at the start of the game here:

This is one of many fantastic trips that we have managed to organise for our pupils in previous years. We have visited Wimbledon, Wembley Stadium and watched the Rugby League Cup, as well as trips to watch games in the British Basketball League and Cricket Vitality Blast tournaments.
