East Point Academy Celebrates its Best Ever GCSE Results
BackEast Point Academy in South Lowestoft has been celebrating another year of GCSE results this morning with pupils returning to the school to receive their results. Overall, 69% of pupils achieved grades 9-4 in Maths and English, a 20% increase on 2019. Beyond this, the academy is delighted to announce that 54% of its students achieved grade 9-5 in Maths and English, a 16% increase on 2019 (as Ofqual announced last week, the return to pre-pandemic grading means nationally results will have fallen and therefore it will be most meaningful to compare to the results of 2019).
Lucy Austin, Principal at East Point Academy said:
“Our students, at East Point Academy, have made themselves and all our community extremely proud of them with some fantastic results. The students, their families and the staff have all worked incredibly hard to achieve this set of results – the best East Point Academy has ever known. We wish our students all the best for the bright futures ahead of them.”
Standout subjects this year have been in maths, science, and history. East Point Academy has also shown improvement in subjects such as Modern Foreign Languages showing the largest improvement, an increase of 46% since the 2019 results.
Logan Gravells (head student) - "Buzzing, absolutely over the moon. Going to study A-level Geography and Business and I can't wait."
Katie McAneany (head student) - "I'm so happy. I'm going to do sociology, politics and website development at East Norfolk."
Odin Cannon - "I'm so glad I was revising all year, it really paid off. Going to do biology, chemistry and psychology at Sir Isaac Newton 6th Form."
GCSEs are an important stepping-stone, a rite of passage for the future of young people. By providing students with good routines and systems in place to support them, East Point Academy ensures that pupils understand what GCSEs mean for their future so students can do their best and achieve what they are capable of. There is an increased level of support surrounding exams over the final weeks of study and throughout their final year, providing them with key encouragement along their journey.
Many students will go on to further study, and some have plans to attend the recently opened Sir Isaac Newton East Sixth Form, based at Great Yarmouth Charter Academy another Inspiration Trust academy.
Alex Lincoln - "Can't believe it, it's amazing after all that work. I'm going to Sir Isaac Newton East to do history, politics and English literature."
For those interested in attending an open event at East Point Academy, there is an Open Evening this Autumn on Monday 2nd October from 4:30 - 7:30 pm.
