Young Carers Coffee Morning
BackOn the 10th October, we held a gathering of parents and young caregivers to attend our first coffee morning. We were delighted to be able to welcome Helen Blight, the Project Lead and Advisor for Young Carers and Young Adult Carers to East Point Academy. Helen was available to answer any questions that parents had.
The young carers at East Point Academy foster a nurturing community within the school, and it was delightful to share this sense of belonging with our parents as well. We organised a special event that facilitated connections between parents, students, and our young carer lead, Sally Stanton, allowing them to share their experiences. We discussed the various resources and support we provide at school to support our young carers, and it was heartwarming to witness engaging in meaningful discussions, and exchanging insights and tips on how to assist their young carers both at home and in school.
It was a great opportunity to chat about past activities that our young carers have enjoyed, such as bowling and a day trip to Pleasurewood Hills. It was so exciting to be able to share information about the thrilling opportunities and activities on the horizon.
