Best ever GCSE grades at East Point Academy
Back
The wait is over for students at East Point Academy in Lowestoft who collected their GCSE results from school yesterday morning. Many students were waiting eagerly before the school opened and attended with friends and family who shared in their success.
Collectively, this was the best results ever for the academy! 74% of pupils achieved grades 9-4 in both English and maths – 54% were grades 9-5. We are delighted to be in the top performing schools in the county.
Another fantastic year for the students of our town and school, with a huge 12% rise in 9-5 English and maths on last year's results, and well above the national average when looking at last year's figures, the national average is predicted to be roughly 45-46% this year as grades rose slightly nationally.
The success in these results enables students to follow their dream career paths and if they would like to, pursue studying at A-Level or go on to apprenticeships.
Pete Seadon, Principal at East Point Academy said:
“Congratulations to the students of East Point Academy receiving their GCSE results today. These are the school's best-ever exam results. The outcomes reflect our pupils' hard work and dedication, and we are immensely proud of their achievements. It was wonderful to celebrate with students as they opened their results today. Thank you to their families, the wider community and our fantastic staff for their commitment and support. We wish our students every success as they take their next steps.”
But don’t take our word for it, this is what our students think:
Four East Point Academy students performed exceptionally well, achieving an average grade above an 8. Oliver performed spectacularly, achieving four grade 9s, four grade 8s from his GCSE results. Both Charles and Kitty achieved three grade 9s, four grade 8s and a grade 7; an incredible effort by our students.
Alfie, who worked really hard to overcame adversities and complete his studies sat 10 GCSE papers and achieved an average grade of 8.3! He secured grade 9s in English literature, English language and history. Most impressive of all, he only dropped 2 marks in one of his English literature papers! Alfie said, “The results are really good for me. I can now follow the career I would like to.”
Finlay said, 'I'm really happy and especially proud of my English Literature result.'
Sophie said, 'I've done so well and I'm really happy.'
Jackson joked 'These results are so good they can't be mine!'
Poppy said, 'I am so impressed with my results.'
